If you're just starting out... here's a few tutorials that I made showing you how to prep your fabric, tie, dye & wash out your new ice dyes.
(Click each photo and it will bring you to Youtube where these videos are hosted - if any of the links stop working, please let me know via email at info@thrivingintiedye.com)
Tying videos (MAKE SURE TO PREP YOUR FABRIC WITH SODA ASH BEFORE THIS STEP)
If you want to get a little bit more technical with your tie dye skills, here's a few additional tools you can invest in:
Waxed Sinew: https://link.amazon/B0aMWzK3w (Used to tie faster/crispier geodes, mandalas & other folds that require a wax resist)
Sinew Puller: https://link.amazon/B08wXi14c (This is a dowel used to pull your sinew tight. This is the secret to the crispest lines)
If you want to buy addtional fiber reactive dye, soda ash or supplies, you can get 20% off JACQUARD with code ERICA (Click here)
Here are some of my favorite dyeable blanks
(remember - tie dye blanks SHOULD to be at least 80% cotton/rayon/viscose/linen/bamboo. Mostly poly/nylon/acrylic pieces will NOT take fiber reactive dye well)
Protective gear
For tie dye (both liquid dye and ice dye) you'll need gloves and an N95 mask (or a respirator) because you’ll be dealing with powder particles that are dangerous to breathe in, and the dye will stain your skin.
Respirator mask (if you’re going to get serious and do this more than a couple of times)
